Our Founder
Matias Herrera’s journey is a story of passion, persistence, and purpose. Before moving to the United States, he spent three years playing in Chile’s First Division and six months in the Second Division, representing Club Palestino and Deportes Recoleta in top competitions like the Copa Chile, Copa Libertadores, and Copa Sudamericana.
When he arrived in the U.S., his hunger to grow—both on and off the field—continued. Matias became a key figure for Butte College Men’s Soccer, earning Golden Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors twice, along with All-North and All-State selections. His success on the field led him to San Francisco State University, where he continued his playing career while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration.
After graduation, Matias turned his focus to coaching and leadership. He joined West Valley College as a Goalkeeper Coach, sharing his experience and passion with the next generation. Along the way, he continued to grow—earning the Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma, "Curso de entrenadores de Arqueros de fútbol", "Tactica de Arqueros", among others, plus expanding his knowledge by collaborating with professional goalkeeper coaches and studying modern training methodologies.
As both a coach and entrepreneur, Matias founded Psico Goalkeeper Training L.L.C., a project born from his belief that goalkeeping is as much mental as it is physical. His program blends elite technical work with psychological preparation, helping goalkeepers build confidence, focus, and resilience.
On the player side, Matias continues to compete at a high level, playing in the USL2 with Almaden FC, where he helped the team win the NORCAL Division Championship in back-to-back seasons (2024 and 2025).
Today, through Psico Goalkeeper Training, Matias is committed to developing goalkeepers who are complete — technically sharp, mentally strong, and ready for any level. His path from professional player to coach and founder reflects one message:
success is built through mindset, discipline, and constant evolution.
